HR Generalist

The Countsy HR Generalist requires a hands-on HR professional who can manage the day-to-day HR Generalist functions for multiple startup companies. The fully remote position requires an individual with incredible attention to detail who can juggle a large client load using a high level of organizational skills. In this role, you will support startups in their onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and compliance matters as well as manage and respond to day-to-day client questions.

Our clients are mostly venture backed startups located throughout the U.S. This is a unique opportunity for an up-and-coming HR professional to get a wide range of experience working with some of the hottest high tech, biotech and life science startups in the country!

The ideal candidate must be able to work with others with varying levels of Accounting, HR, and Payroll experience both within, and outside the organization. This position requires solid multi-tasking abilities, sound judgement, and a sense of urgency.

Reports to:  HR Support Team Manager

Major Responsibilities

Benefits Implementation and Administration

  • Conduct new hire benefit orientations.

  • Collect and ensure processing of all benefits enrollments utilizing various HRIS.

  • Approve and reconcile benefit carrier invoices as needed. Work with the client and payroll to resolve any issues.

  • Work with payroll and/or benefit brokers to help clients resolve their benefits issues.

  • Assist with implementation of new benefit plans and changes during the annual renewal process.

General Policies and Procedures

  • Act as resource for clients with regards to compliance and policy questions

  • Perform necessary research to come up with correct options for client.

HRIS

  • Maintain accurate and compliant digital files for all clients.

  • Conduct file audits as necessary.

  • Utilize various HRIS for onboarding and offboarding processes.

  • Run client reports as requested.

Onboarding and offboarding

  • Run background checks for clients.

  • Prepare and send out offer letters and legally required notices for every new hire.

  • Utilize HRIS for onboarding processes - I9s, Employee Handbook Acknowledgement, and other new hire documentation.

  • Work with HR team, client, and payroll to coordinate final paycheck and termination documents for exiting employees.

Other HR Support

  • Act as internal HR for various clients as needed performing all of the processes listed above.

  • Support client and internal teams with timely responses to requests.

  • Take ownership of work and follow tasks through to completion.

  • Utilize research and knowledge management channels.

  • Develop proficiencies with Countsy tools, processes, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with and support Countsy teammates.

  • Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities in a timely manner (e.g. Timesheet and expense report submission, annual review, response to e-mail and voicemail, forecasting of upcoming availability).

Qualifications

  • Technical skills:

    • Solid knowledge of human resources best practices in a variety of different industries and circumstances.

    • Proven research and analytical skills showing ability to reach logical conclusion and application to client situations.

    • Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel – familiar with higher formulas (i.e. pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUP, etc.).

    • Proficiency with various online HRIS tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.

    • Prior experience in multi-entity or startup clients (strongly recommended).

  • Client service skills:

    • Ability to manage client inquiries.

    • Direct complaints or complex queries to relevant team members.

    • Provide technical assistance.

    • Expedite serious issues to management for prompt resolution.

    • Sense of urgency necessary to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.

  • Growth mindset:

    • Desire to work in an environment of continual learning and challenges.

    • Effectively adjust and prioritize new conditions, clients and changing tasks.

    • Accept responsibility for errors, identify corrective measures and controls for non-recurrence.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills:

    • Ability to interact directly with Client’s staff at all management levels, internally with Countsy staff and Startup CFOs and client vendors and contacts.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Education:

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience.  A Master’s Degree or PHR/SPHR designation are a strong plus.

    • HR certifications are strongly preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 5 + years of progressive HR Generalist experience

Compensation and Benefits Information

  • Base Pay Range:  $32.00 - $38.00 / hr

    • Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonus Plan

    • All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.

  • Benefits: Medical (including FSA and HSA offerings), Dental, Vision, Life insurance, Disability insurance, 401(k) savings plan, Employee Stock Purchase plan, Paid Time Off: 18 days, Eight Paid Holidays, Paid Sick Time (in geographies where legally required).

Washington Time Off and Leave

Management and Support Roles : Employees working in the state of Washington will receive the following time off and leave benefits:*

Short-Term Disability Benefits: RGP provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of paid leave for total and temporary disability due to illness or injury.

Maternity Leave: For pregnancy and childbirth, female employees may receive up to 8 weeks (40 days) of paid Maternity Leave.**

Parental Leave: RGP provides 2 weeks (10 days) of paid Parental Leave for the birth or adoption of a child.**

Bereavement: Up to 3 days of paid leave (additional time may be available under PFML)

Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML): The state-administered PFML fund provides qualified employees with the following maximum leave amounts per calendar year: (a) up to 12 weeks of paid family or medical leave, (b) up to 16 weeks of leave when family and medical leave are used in combination, and (c) an additional two weeks of leave due to pregnancy complications, (d) up to 7 days bereavement leave.

Jury Duty Leave: Up to 5 paid days

Military Leave: Up to 21 days of paid leave during a one-year period.
